Festivité, performance et agencéité chez les Na de Chine : Du lien social à l'arène politique

Abstract : This article compares two villages in the Lugu Lake area, one touristic one not, where the festivities are dressed in different ways. Through a socio-historical perspective and first-hand material, it is possible to understand how the different registers of performance are a matter for differentiated political issues that suggest social change, but also particular tensions between those performances and their theoretical implications. In the non-touristic village, the tangible efficiency and effectiveness of politics during the festivities highlight required dimensions for Mosuo/Na sociabilities construction. On the touristic side, the different dimensions and political implications in terms of tourism development’s adaptation, can put into perspective the infrapolitical dimensions of the performance confronted to folklorisation. The analysis shows that the Mosuo, while presenting and instrumentalising their singularities during their performances, can claim to be tourists’ contemporaries, which suggests politics as a condition of mise en scène.
