Abstract

Main objectives To propose a new criterion for the optimal positioning of sources and receivers in the context of Full Waveform Inversion.
New aspects covered Our new approach is based on the theoretical wavenumber spectrum of the FWI gradient and uses concepts and results borrowed from numerical geometry to model and solve the problem.
